The ITN (Africa) Network started in the late eighties as part of the IDWSSD initatives to promote and accelerate provision of water and sanitation in Africa. The ITN Africa is an off shoot of a global programme that was established in 1985 as part of the decade initiatives to promote accelerated improvements in the provision of safe water supplies sand sanitation.
The ITN which is self-managed has grown to be an indigenous network addressing pertinent issues of water and sanitation within the region. The ITN is an international response to the challenge of building national capacity to provide water and sanitation to the rural and urban poor.
