Strengthening Partnerships for Universal WASH Access in Ahafo

Strengthening Partnerships for Universal WASH Access in Ahafo

On 6 May 2025, the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, in collaboration with IRC and with support from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, hosted the Ahafo Regional Integrated WASH Programme Partners’ Meeting in Goaso. The event brought together partners and stakeholders from across the region to review progress on District WASH Masterplans, with a spotlight on Asutifi North and Asunafo South.

Asutifi North continues to lead with the ANAM Initiative, achieving over 226 boreholes, mechanised systems, and innovative solutions such as solar-powered water kiosks. Asunafo South, through the ASNAN Initiative, is also making strides with new infrastructure, community engagement, and strong local investment. While challenges remain, both districts are committed to scaling impact and achieving universal WASH access by 2030.
The meeting also featured updates from key partners, including CWSA, IRCWASH, World Vision Ghana, Aquaya Institute, Netcentric Campaign, Project Maji, WaterAid Ghana, and Easy Water for Everyone. Discussions addressed community concerns such as water tariff setting, household connection issues, and the need for improved coordination through a shared communication platform.

This gathering reaffirmed the power of collaboration in driving sustainable WASH outcomes across the Ahafo Region.
