CONIWAS pays courtesy call to CWSA
IRC Ghana joined the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS Ghana) team for the first courtesy call on the new Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) Chief Executive and his team of Directors. The purpose was to welcome the new CEO, reflect on the longstanding collaborative partnership, and discuss the Chief Executive’s vision for the rural sub-sector.
Key discussions focused on the rural sub-sector reforms and the role of CSOs and the private sector. The CEO emphasised his commitment to the reforms and mentioned that a team was working on the framework to be forwarded to the cabinet through the sector ministry for action. He commended his predecessors and his directors for initiating the reform process and called for the continued support of CONIWAS.
The Executive Secretary, on behalf of the Coalition, assured, “CONIWAS is committed to supporting the professionalisation of rural water services and the completion of CWSA’s transition into a rural utility.”
