CONIWAS Ghana pays a courtesy visit to the Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs (LGCRA), who also oversees sanitation. The visit served as an opportunity to formally welcome him to the Ministry and engage in discussions on collaborative efforts to enhance sanitation services in Ghana.
During the meeting, the Minister expressed his appreciation for CONIWAS’ commitment to advocating for sustainable sanitation solutions across the nation. The discussions highlighted several key initiatives and priorities, including:
1. The rollout of the Presidential Compact on WASH.
2. Finalization of the review of the Sanitation Policy.
3. Establishment of the National Sanitation Authority (NSA).
4. Implementation of the ODF (Open Defecation Free) Roadmap.
5. Development of financing strategies for sanitation.
6. Reintroduction of National Sanitation Day.
7. Creation of the National Sanitation League.
8. Strengthening multi-sectoral collaborations.
9. Elevating the Sanitation Units of assemblies into a Departmental status.
CONIWAS Ghana is optimistic about the outcomes of this meeting and remains committed to working closely with the Ministry to achieve these goals.
